So often in our lives we think we are heading in one direction and we believe we know where it is we are going. However, as we get closer, we realize it’s not the place we thought and we see what is going on and where we are actually going. Those are the times we need to know the art of staying the course.
By staying the course I mean we set the coordinates to our destination. Then we proceed in traveling onward and we stick to that direction and keep in mind the end results.
Now, there my be detours along the way. Or we may stumble. But those missteps do not change the coordinates of our destination. People often give up their coordinates and get off-track because they lose sight of their vision, their course, their coordinates. That is when we need to set our minds and hearts on Father God, stay the course and remember where we are heading.
The enemy loves to steal and kill dreams and visions but God brings fullness of life.
John 10:10
Life has so many directions we can take and travel, and that can be fun and exciting, but remember to stay the course of where Father has directed you to go. It takes constantly reminding ourselves what is important, what is at stake and what we value the most.
I was pondering today how many of us have given up on our dreams and the coordinates God gave us. We’ve detoured or given up on the course because of stumbles or obstructions in our lives. Those are the moments when we need to remember to stay the course; not get weary and give up or change coordinates to other destinations or get new directions because we are bored or meandering - or so we think. Stay the course and if Father changes the coordinates or changes direction, that is ok, but not us redirecting our course out of boredom or too much hard work.
This is something I was feeling today for the body of Christ at large. Don’t give up in the process. Don’t change coordinates when the road feels too bumpy or rough. Stay the course.
Put people around you that know your course and direction of life and who can help you stay the course. Remember, the Bible tells us that bad company corrupts good character.
1 Corinthians 15:33
Take a little time today to ask yourself and the Holy Spirit if you have deviated from Father’s original coordinates to His vision of your life. What dreams or goals are you not pursuing because you haven’t been staying the course? Every one of us, from time to time, need a little re-calibrating and time to reset and continue on course. Remember, if Father God gave you a dream or gift or direction, He will give you the grace to fulfill it.
So often in our lives we think we are heading in one direction and we believe we know where it is we are going. However, as we get closer, we realize it’s not the place we thought and we see what is going on and where we are actually going. Those are the times we need to know the art of staying the course.
So we now stay the course.
Amen
Make sure your circle includes people who will tell you.
- No
- Are you sure?
- Have you thought about it this way?
- That was inappropriate
We have to have people in our circles who will push back, challenge, and
therein make us better. All from a place of love.
